Over the past eight years, Captain Kaiser has grown into one of Belgium’s leading punk bands. Still proudly rooted in the Kempen, their sound nods to the raw emotion of High Vis and the anarchic spirit of Viagra Boys. and free sounds. It’s the logical next chapter after Captain Kaiser shed their “promising newcomer” label two years ago with “RHYME&REASON”, a blistering slab of post-punk in which Vansant sang out his grief over his mother’s passing. “Belgian Boy” was recorded at Ocean Sound in Giske, Norway, a studio that has hosted the likes of Arcade Fire and Sigrid, and was once again produced by Jay Maas (Defeater).
