1st Step To heaven is de eerste en enige LP die DAF in het Engels uitbracht. DAF (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) is een invloedrijke Duitse electropunkband uit Düsseldorf (Duitsland). Manu Dibango bracht de LP Sun Explosion voor het eerst uit in 1978. Dit is een remasterde heruitgave op gekleurd vinyl. Voor de opnames van Sun Explosion trok Manu Dibango naar Parijs. Hij ging opnieuw de samenwerking aan met producer Roland Le Couviour en sound engineer Claude Achallé.
